The Rockers Reunion has been an established part of the scene now for some 21 years. Every year it gains in appeal, success and scale. And this year was no exception. Held once more at the Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading, Berkshire, I have never been to one that was as popular and crowded. The 59 Club had its usual location on the stage just off the main hall and was as hectic as it always is. All the members and other visitors deserve a great big thank you for making this yet another successful event for us. It was really great to meet so many current members as well as more than a few faces from the past. Nice to see you again Vic. The main part of the evening was the music of course. I managed to get out onto the dance floor a few times and even MY aged old feet and legs could not help breaking into a shuffle and a bit of a tap dance as I tried to take a few pictures. That of course is going to be my excuse once more for the low quality of the pics. That and an aging camera. I think I might have to buy a new one. The crowd was entertained by a variety of groups and a special thank you must go firstly to Stu who was his usual fantastic self as Compère and Master of Ceremonies. A special mention must be made of a new, up and coming band called Fever. A great first time guys, we were all tapping along. We must see you again. With Crazy Cavan and Janis Martin also getting very involved the night really went with a bang. Guys and Gals, if you missed this event you really MUST get along next year. If there is one night you go to next year, make it this one. Oh, that is as well as our own Tinsel and Turkey Party at the Club HQ, of course. I am going to post a couple of pictures here now. My apologies if they take a few moments to load, I am always stuck between trying to get a reasonable quality picture on here but at the same time trying to keep the download times acceptably short. If anyone has any other shots by the way, send them in and I will post them here as well. Printed, jpeg, tif, gif or bmp files are all OK. |
